The yield on the German 10-year government bond increased on Wednesday, reaching its highest level since early July 2024.

Recent economic data from the Old Continent, as well as from the United States, seemingly affected the value of bonds, which move opposite to yields. Annual consumer prices in both Germany and the euro area rose more in December compared to November. With the latest figures in focus, traders are now wondering what effect this might have on the central banks' future monetary policy path.

The return on the benchmark 10-year Bund rose 1.6 points to reach 2.502% at 12:14 pm CET.
