Ford Motor Co. will recall 272,817 vehicles in the United States due to battery failure, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Thursday. The recall concerns Ford Bronco Sport SUVs made between 2021 and 2023 and Maverick trucks from 2022 and 2023.

The NHTSA said the vehicles' 12-volt battery "may experience degradation and suddenly fail," leaving electrical accessories without power. It could also cause a loss of drive power, which could lead to an accident. The agency said letters notifying owners should be sent out on February 3.
