Europe closes higher ahead of economic data

Major stock indexes in Europe closed higher on Monday ahead of a week full of key economic data report releases. Investors awaited the United Kingdom's and Eurozone's reports on their Gross Domestic Product growth in the third quarter and the UK's unemployment data. Germany's statistics office, Destatis, will also release a report on the country's inflation.

The DAX rose by 1.28% at the close, with Continental AG surging by 10.62%, while the FTSE 100 increased by 0.65%, as Croda International PLC jumped by 5.24%. At the same time, the CAC 40 climbed by 1.20% and the Euro Stoxx 50 grew by 1.07% at the closing bell, with Compagnie de Saint-Gobain SA adding 3.48% on both indexes.

The euro was down by 0.63% compared to the dollar and sold for $1.06502 at 5:28 pm CET. Meanwhile, the pound sterling lost 0.36% against the dollar, selling for $1.28743 at 5:29 pm CET.
