European Council President Charles Michel revealed on Friday that the European Union and Kiev remain in support of setting up an international center for the prosecution in The Hague to hold Russia accountable for "crimes of aggression" in Ukraine.

"In addition to accountability, it only makes sense that Russia should pay to rebuild Ukraine," Michel stressed during the press conference in Kiev, assuring that the bloc will continue to exert pressure on Moscow to "end the war." "A tenth package is being designed to curb Russia's war machine even further. These sanctions are working, weakening Russia's economy and depriving it of critical technologies," Michel underscored.

The day before, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the next batch of sanctions should be ready by February 24, the day that would commemorate the beginning of Russia's military action in Ukraine.
