The number of people who died as a result of the explosion at the Shahid Rajaei port in Bandar Abbas in Iran reached 40, according to IRNA, citing the president of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences.

According to the report, more than a thousand people were injured in the container explosion, with 194 still hospitalized and 170 of them needing surgery in the provincial hospitals, while 31 people are currently being taken care of in the intensive care unit.

Earlier today, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered his support to Tehran and sent two airplanes to Bandar Abbas to help.
