Bitcoin reached a historic high, selling for $100,000 for the first time after recovering from its slump during the past week and in the wake of United States President-elect Donald Trump's announcement that he planned to nominate Paul Atkins to lead the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which was interpreted a positive signal for the cryptocurrencies market.
Bitcoin surged 1.13% to sell for $100,066.455 at 9:38 pm ET. Concurrently, Ethereum declined by 0.32%, trading for 3,834.0071 at 9:40 pm ET.
