Within the internationally positioned E.ON Group, Lechwerke AG is the regional energy service provider in Bavarian Swabia and parts of Upper Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. The core business consists of electricity supply and related services. The grid area largely coincides with the administrative district of Swabia and the self-generated electricity is almost exclusively produced from hydropower. The company operates through a number of subsidiaries: LEW Verteilnetz GmbH regulates non-discriminatory grid access in the grid area of Lechwerke AG, Überlandwerk Krumbach GmbH, Elektrizitätswerk Landsberg GmbH and parts of the city of Augsburg. It is responsible for the planning, construction, expansion, quality, operation and use of grid systems. It also calculates the grid fees within the regulatory framework. LEW Netzservice GmbH is responsible for operational grid management on behalf of LEW Verteilnetz GmbH. This includes construction and maintenance as well as servicing of the grid facilities. LEW Service & Consulting GmbH is responsible for customer service, IT, personnel and infrastructure services as well as commercial services. LEW Wasserkraft GmbH combines all of the LEW Group's generation activities. It is responsible for the overall operational management of a total of 36 hydropower plants. LEW TelNet GmbH is one of the leading providers of data communication in the Bavarian-Swabian region.
