US closes higher on Tesla gains, Powell comments
Major stock market indexes in the United States closed higher on Tuesday after Tesla Inc.'s shares jumped following a favorable report on the company's deliveries. Meanwhile, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell pointed out the downward trend in inflation. Additionally, the country saw little monthly change in its job openings, hinting at no major differences in the labor market that could affect the Fed's monetary policy decisions.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced by 0.41% or 162 points as Visa Inc. gained 1.90%. The Nasdaq 100 grew by 1.01% or 199 points. The S&P 500 increased by 0.62%. Tesla was the highest-grossing performer on the latter two indexes, surging by 10.20%.
The euro stood flat against the dollar at 3:58 pm ET to sell for $1.07457.
