Scholz: Magdeburg attack 'foreshadows the worst'

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz took to X on Friday to say that reports of a recent car-ramming attack at a Christmas market in Germany's Magdeburg "foreshadows the worst."

"My thoughts are with the victims and their families. We stand by their side and by the side of the people of Magdeburg. My thanks go to the dedicated rescue workers in these anxious hours," Scholz posted on X.

Initial accounts indicated that between 60 and 80 individuals sustained injuries, with at least 11 fatalities, after a vehicle plowed into a crowd at the festive market. According to the news agency DPA, authorities have apprehended the driver.
