DA reviewing delaying Trump's NY case sentencing

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office stated on Tuesday it is considering delaying former United States President Donald Trump's sentencing in the hush money case, in which he was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records, as per the latter's request.

"Although we believe defendant's arguments to be without merit, we do not oppose his request for leave to file and his putative request to adjourn sentencing pending determination of his motion. We respectfully request a deadline of July 24, 2024—two weeks after defendant's requested deadline—to file and serve a response," the office said in a statement.

The sentencing date was originally scheduled for July 11. In the meantime, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) ruled that Trump, as former president, was entitled to partial immunity to prosecution in the cases trying his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election in certain states.
