Equities on the Asian markets traded mostly higher on Wednesday after China and Japan released their services PMI figures. Beijing's data signaled only a slight improvement in activity in June, while the PMI for the same month in Japan disappointed expectations, showing that the country's service sector marked a contraction.
At 04:33 am CET, Japan's Nikkei 225 added 0.88%, with Hong Kong's Hang Seng up by 0.57%. The dollar traded 0.08% higher against the yen, going for ¥161.5740 at 04:34 am CET.
In mainland China, the Shenzhen Composite went down by 0.66% at 04:34 am CET, as the Shanghai Composite lost 0.43%. A minute later, South Korea's Kospi increased by 0.33%, with the Australian S&P 200 rising by 0.30%.
